The MV2/2-H is a direct-operated 2/2-way solenoid valve purpose-built for extractive gas analysis and continuous emission monitoring (CEM) systems. Unlike standard solenoid valves, the MV2/2-H incorporates an integrated 350 W electric heating system that maintains the entire valve body at a user-adjustable setpoint between 0°C and 180°C. This prevents condensation of water vapour, acid mists, and heavy hydrocarbons inside the valve — a critical requirement when transporting hot, wet sample gas from the probe to the analyser. The wetted parts are stainless steel with FFKM and FKM seals, ensuring chemical resistance to aggressive stack gases.

How does the temperature control system protect sample integrity?

The MV2/2-H uses a three-tier thermal management strategy. The primary thermostat maintains the user-set temperature with ±1°C stability across the 0–180°C range. A high-temperature limiter trips at T_set + 30°C and requires a manual reset key, preventing thermal runaway if the thermostat fails. A low-temperature alarm outputs a potential-free contact closure at T_set − 30°C, alerting the operator that the valve has cooled below the safe threshold where condensation could form. Heated connection fittings prevent cold bridges at the inlet and outlet ports, while the thermally insulated cover and heat-decoupled wall-mounting plate minimise heat loss to the surrounding enclosure. The solenoid coil operates on 24 V DC at 15 W, separate from the 230 V/50 Hz heating circuit, allowing independent switching of the valve function from the thermal control system.
