The KLPV-HP from KaoLu Enterprise Co. (Taiwan) is a direct-acting proportional solenoid valve that combines on/off shutoff with proportional flow control in a single compact device. Unlike conventional solenoid valves that are either fully open or fully closed, the KLPV-HP modulates flow proportionally to the input current — higher coil current produces a larger internal orifice opening. This current-driven, frictionless moving-part design eliminates the sliding seals and spool wear that limit conventional proportional valve life, achieving a rated lifespan of over 1 billion cycles.

How does orifice selection affect pressure and flow?

The KLPV-HP is available in five orifice sizes, each with its own pressure-versus-flow trade-off. The smallest 1.0 mm orifice withstands up to 35 bar (507 psi) and delivers 30 L/min of air at 3 bar — suited to high-pressure, low-flow dosing and precision gas control. The largest 3.5 mm orifice flows up to 310 L/min of air at 3 bar but is limited to 8 bar (116 psi) maximum inlet pressure, making it ideal for general water and air service at moderate pressures. Intermediate sizes (1.5 mm at 25 bar/70 L/min, 2.0 mm at 15 bar/125 L/min, 3.0 mm at 10 bar/230 L/min) fill the application spectrum between these extremes. The wide media temperature range from −196°C to +50°C supports cryogenic as well as ambient-temperature processes.

How is the KLPV-HP controlled?

The valve accepts either PWM (pulse-width modulation) or direct current control inputs at a nominal 24 V DC, drawing 14 W maximum. A 5 W low-power coil variant is available for energy-sensitive applications. Response time is approximately 100 ms with hysteresis of 10–15% full scale and repeatability of 1–3% full scale. A 40-micron upstream filter is recommended to protect the precision internal clearances. Wetted materials are stainless steel 316 and 304, cold-rolled stainless steel with electroless nickel plating, or brass — all compatible with air, water, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, oil, and many corrosive fluids.
