Product Description

The Andantex DGblock is a compact digital web tension controller designed for closed-loop tension regulation in wire, cable, optical fibre, and narrow web converting processes. Its built-in precision amplifier accepts inputs from one or two load cells, with PID control providing stable tension even during acceleration and deceleration phases.

How does the master-slave architecture simplify multi-axis systems?

Each DGblock unit connects to adjacent units via a rear-panel bus connector, forming a master-slave chain without additional wiring or central PLC coordination. The master unit distributes setpoint values, process commands, and measurement data to all slave units across the bus. This architecture dramatically reduces cabinet wiring compared to individually wired controllers, particularly in multi-spindle wire drawing or multi-stand slitting lines where 8-12 axes must be coordinated.

What safety features protect the material during machine stops?

The DGblock includes a soft-start function with programmable ramp that gradually applies tension after a machine stop, preventing web breakage from sudden torque application. During an emergency stop, the output torque is immediately reduced to a value proportional to the setpoint rather than dropping to zero, maintaining enough tension to prevent material slack or wrap-up on downstream rollers.
