Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1492-D is a miniature circuit breaker built to IEC 60947-2 and UL 1077, DIN-rail mounted, for control and supplementary overcurrent protection up to 600V AC/DC. It is the small-frame protector that sits beside the power devices in a panel.
1492-D or a standard MCB?
The 1492-D carries IEC 60947-2 tripping with B/C/D curves and a state indicator window, rated for supplementary protection per UL 1077. A 1489-M is the UL 489 listed branch breaker for North-American mains circuits. Choose the 1492-D for control and DC high-voltage feeds; choose the 1489-M when the NEC demands a listed branch breaker. The alternative — forcing a branch-rated MCB into a control feed — oversizes the device and wastes rail space.
How do you know it tripped?
The indicator window shows red when closed and green when open, and the terminals are IP20 finger-safe on all sides — so a maintenance tech confirms state without a meter or exposed live parts. The alternative — a breaker with no window — needs a voltmeter hunt to find the open pole.
What accessories fit?
Right, left, and bottom-mounted auxiliary, signal, and shunt-trip contacts clip onto the same body, so status and remote trip wire in without a separate enclosure. The alternative — a bare MCB — needs external status relays and extra panel space.
