The LDetek MultiDetek3 EX is an innovative multi-stream gas chromatograph system designed for use in hazardous areas. It integrates the standard industrial compact GC model MultiDetek3 inside a stainless steel certified (ATEX-IECEx) purged enclosure, making it suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous locations. This "EX" series retains the robust industrial platform features of the MultiDetek3 and its LDChroma software interface.

The system allows for mounting more than one GC or other instruments and accessories within the same purged enclosure. Using the standard rackmount platform of the MultiDetek3 on a slide-out system makes it easy to swap units inside the enclosure for maintenance or application upgrades. The design objective was to provide a multi-stream, multi-GC, and multi-method approach all in one system.

Key features include the ability to combine up to three detectors in one GC (PED, TCD, FID, quartz crystal for H2O, or electrochemical sensors). It can house up to 6 isothermal ovens to fit capillary, micropacked, or packed columns with easy access for column replacement. Analysis capabilities span from ppb to percent levels. The system includes up to 10 analog outputs (4-20mA), industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus via Ethernet/RS232/RS485), and LAN remote control. Applications include hydrogen production, petrochemical processing, natural gas/LNG processing, and air separation units.
