Product Description
The 6ES7194-2LN15-1AC0 is a 15-meter ET 200AL power cable with a pre-assembled straight M8 socket on one end and open leads on the other. It serves one purpose: bring 24 V DC from the last module in a power chain to a remote terminal block, sensor, or actuator—cut to exact length on site.
When would I choose socket-to-open-end over plug-to-open-end?
The socket end mates with a male M8 plug—either the output connector of an ET 200AL power module or the plug end of the previous cable in the chain. This makes it an extension cable that continues an existing run: the socket receives power from upstream, and the open end delivers it to a field device or terminal strip. By contrast, a plug-to-open-end bus cable (0AC0) starts a new run—its plug inserts directly into a module's output socket. Choose socket-to-open-end when you are extending a power chain, not starting one.
PVC or PUR—what am I trading off on a 15-meter power cable?
The 2LN series uses a PVC jacket instead of the PUR found on 2M series cables. PVC lowers the per-meter cost significantly—meaningful on 15-meter runs where jacket material is a real fraction of the total price. The trade-offs: PVC is not halogen-free (it can emit corrosive gases if burned), has lower resistance to oils and cutting fluids, and degrades under prolonged UV exposure. For clean, indoor electrical rooms and cable trays—the typical 15-meter inter-cabinet route—none of these are limiting. If the cable passes through a washdown zone, chemical area, or public-occupancy building, step up to the 2MN PUR equivalent.
Is 15 meters too long for 24 V DC on 0.50 mm² conductors?
For most ET 200AL loads, no—but it is worth a quick check. At 4 A per pin, the round-trip resistance of 15 meters of 0.50 mm² copper drops approximately 1.0 V end-to-end. If the load draws the full 4 A and the source is exactly 24.0 V, the far end sees about 23.0 V—within the typical ±10% tolerance of 24 V DC industrial electronics. For lighter loads, the drop is proportionally lower. If the load is near the connector current limit, the 10-meter variant (2LN10-1AC0) gives more voltage headroom.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this power cable shielded?
No. ET 200AL power cables are unshielded—they carry 24 V DC, not high-speed data. Only the green-jacket bus cables include the dual-shield construction (aluminum foil + tinned copper braid). The gray jacket is the visual indicator: gray = unshielded power, green = shielded PROFINET bus. Never cross-connect them.
Can I shorten this cable in the field?
Yes. The open end is designed for field termination—cut to the exact length needed, strip the four cores (white, brown, blue, black), and land them on the terminal block. The M8 socket end is factory-molded and must not be cut.
What are the other 2LN15 power cable variants?
The 1AA0 is a straight plug-to-socket extension with both ends pre-assembled—for clean daisy-chaining between modules. The 1AB0 is the same but with angled (90°) connectors—for installations with tight vertical clearance above the module. This 1AC0 is the field-termination variant: socket on one end, open leads on the other, for runs that end at a terminal block rather than another module.
