IO-Link hub — not a PROFINET module

This module connects to an IO-Link master port, not directly to the PROFINET network. It is a hub: the IO-Link master discovers it, maps its 16 channels into the master's process image, and the controller sees them as if they were on the master itself. No bus coupler needed, no PROFINET device name to configure.

When does adding a hub beat adding another bus coupler?

If you already have an IO-Link master with a free port, adding a hub costs less and takes less engineering time than adding a bus coupler plus a standard digital module. The hub draws power from the IO-Link master (Port Class B, separate electronics and load supplies), so no additional power cabling. The trade-off: all 16 channels share the IO-Link master's cycle time — not suitable for high-speed counting or sub-millisecond input response. For those applications, use the standard DIQ module (6ES7143-5AH00-0BA0) behind a bus coupler instead.

Encoder supply

Eight short-circuit-protected encoder supply outputs provide sensor power directly at each M12 connector. Total encoder supply current is limited to 0.7 A — size your sensor load accordingly. Diagnostic alarms are configurable per module for both input and output channels.
