The 6ES7194-2LH50-0AB0 is a 5-meter shielded PROFINET bus cable for daisy-chaining SIMATIC ET 200AL distributed I/O modules. Both ends are terminated with 4-pole M8 angled connectors—one plug, one socket—and the green PVC jacket identifies it as a bus cable. The 2Y(ST)CY dual-shield construction (aluminum foil plus tinned copper braid) protects 100-Mbps PROFINET communication against industrial EMI in IP65/IP67 environments. At 5 meters, this is the longest standard green bus cable with angled connectors, giving enough reach to span several ET 200AL nodes on a large machine frame while the angled exits keep the cable flat against the mounting surface.

ET 200AL uses color-coded cable jackets: green = shielded PROFINET bus, gray = unshielded 24 V DC power. They share the same M8 connector form factor but carry fundamentally different signals. Plugging a gray power cable into a bus port will not establish communication; plugging a green bus cable into a power port will not power the module. Worse—if 24 V DC reaches a bus port on a module without internal protection, it can destroy the PROFINET ASIC. Always check jacket color before connecting.

Why angled connectors at both ends?

ET 200AL modules are compact and often mounted side by side on a machine frame with limited overhead clearance. An angled M8 plug exits at 90 degrees, keeping the cable flat against the module face instead of protruding roughly 30 mm straight out into the path of moving machine parts or a closing cabinet door. With angled connectors at both ends, the 5-meter bus cable routes cleanly along the mounting rail from one module to the next with no high spots to snag. If clearance is not an issue, the straight-to-straight variant (6ES7194-2LH50-0AA0) is easier to grip during installation.
