Product Description

The Ascon Tecnologic KUBE series is a range of 1/16 DIN (48×48 mm) PID temperature controllers designed for industrial process control, packaging, food & beverage, plastics, and HVAC applications. Three dynamic display colours (red, green, amber) provide at-a-glance process status. The KUBE combines universal input flexibility, heat/cool PID control, and advanced on‑board functions including independent timer, wattmeter, hour counter, user calibration, soft start, power-on delay, and transmitter power supply. The controller supports up to 4 outputs (relay, SSR, servomotor) and comes with TTL Modbus and optional RS-485 Modbus RTU communication.

Ascon Tecnologic KUBE Series PID Temperature Controller, Universal Input, evoTune, RS-485, 48x48 mm

evo Advanced Functions — evoTune, evoGreen, evoTools

  • evoTune — “Trouble‑Free” Tuning: The evoTune function is a one‑touch, push‑and‑forget auto‑tuning procedure that calculates optimal PID parameters by measuring the thermal response of the connected system. Unlike conventional auto‑tuning that requires user intervention during oscillation, evoTune completes the entire tuning cycle autonomously. It can be activated at any time and also works in dual‑action heat/cool or hydraulic control, and with motorised valve actuators. Self‑tuning PID continuously adapts the control parameters to changing load conditions without interrupting the process.
  • evoGreen — Energy Saving: The evoGreen function automatically optimises the control action to reduce the overshoot and the number of relay operations—extending the life of electromechanical actuators (contactors, solenoid valves) and reducing energy consumption. When used with solid‑state relays in heating applications, the algorithm minimises unnecessary power cycles, directly lowering electricity costs in continuous‑operation industrial processes.
  • evoTools — Code‑Based Configuration: evoTools allows commissioning by simply entering a 4‑digit configuration code. An authorised technician selects the appropriate code from the manufacturer’s configuration list, enters it into the controller, and all parameters—input type, output configuration, alarm settings, control action—are instantly loaded. There is no need to navigate through dozens of parameter menus. For multi‑unit installations, a programming key can copy and paste the entire parameter set from one controller to others in seconds.

Independent Timer, Wattmeter & Hour Counter

  • Independent Timer (5 Operating Modes): The built‑in timer is independent of the PID and alarm functions and can be configured for delayed start, delayed stop, pulse‑on‑start, pulse‑on‑end, or cycling. This makes the KUBE suitable for single‑controller applications—e.g., starting a heater after a predefined delay, running a timed curing process, or pulsing a cleaning system at regular intervals—without requiring an external PLC.
  • Wattmeter for Instantaneous Power & Energy Consumption: The controller measures and displays the instantaneous power (in watts) and the total energy consumed (in kilowatt‑hours) by the connected load. This data is accessible via the front‑panel display and Modbus registers, enabling energy monitoring and reporting without external power meters.
  • Dual Hour Counters: One cumulative non‑erasable hour counter tracks total operating time throughout the controller’s lifetime for warranty and service interval purposes. A second resettable counter with programmable alarm threshold can be used for preventive maintenance—e.g., alert the operator after X hours of compressor or pump operation.

Universal Input, Multi‑Output & Connectivity

  • Universal Input: Accepts thermocouples (J, K, S, R, T, N), infrared sensors, RTD (Pt100, Pt1000), PTC (KTY81‑121), NTC (103AT‑2), and standard analogue signals (0/4‑20 mA, 0/1‑5 V, 0/2‑10 V). A single KUBE controller can replace multiple variants in the spares inventory.
  • Up to 4 Outputs: Configurable as relay (SPST‑NO 4 A main, 2 A aux), logic voltage to drive external solid‑state relays (SSR), servo‑motor drive for motorised valve actuators, or galvanically isolated analogue output (0/4‑20 mA, 0/2‑10 V) for retransmission.
  • RS-485 Modbus RTU & TTL Modbus: Each controller includes a TTL Modbus interface as standard for on‑bench configuration via PC or programming key, and an optional galvanically isolated RS‑485 Modbus RTU port for fieldbus integration with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Digital Inputs (1–2): Configurable for setpoint selection, auto/manual mode, alarm reset, timer start/stop, or program hold/abort—providing flexible machine‑level control without additional wiring.

Applications

  • Plastics extrusion and injection molding barrel temperature control
  • Industrial ovens, furnaces, and heat treatment processes
  • Packaging and sealing machinery
  • Food & beverage processing (pasteurizers, ovens, fryers)
  • HVAC temperature regulation and zone control
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical reactor thermal management
  • Motorised valve control for heating/cooling fluid circuits
