Product Description
The Siemens 6SL3520-0XE00-7AF0 is the full-featured AF0 variant of the SINAMICS G115D distributed drive platform, rated at 0.75 kW (1.0 hp) with 2.2 A rated output current for 380–480 V 3-phase supply. It includes integrated PROFINET/EtherNet/IP communication, a local remote operator panel, and daisy-chain power and communication connectors — purpose-built for multi-drive conveyor lines where line-topology cabling reduces installation time and hardware costs.
How does daisy-chain topology save on installation?
The AF0 variant includes two Q4/2 power connectors for looping the 400 V AC supply from one drive to the next, and M12 communication connectors with a built-in 2-port switch for PROFINET/EtherNet/IP pass-through. Instead of running a separate power drop and network cable from a central cabinet to each drive, you run one power feed and one network cable to the first drive, then loop onward. On a 10-drive conveyor line, this eliminates nine power drops and an external Ethernet switch — savings that compound with line length.
When should I choose AF0 over the AA0 or AB0 variants?
Choose AF0 when installing three or more drives in a row along a conveyor line. The daisy-chain topology is the core value of the AF0 — it turns each drive into a pass-through node for both mains power and fieldbus communication. For standalone single-drive installations, the AA0 (basic fieldbus) or AB0 (with local panel) variants deliver the same drive performance at lower cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the AF0 be used without daisy chaining?
Yes. The AF0 operates perfectly as a standalone drive — the daisy-chain connectors are additional ports that can remain unused. However, if daisy chaining is not needed, the AA0 or AB0 variants offer the same core drive performance at a lower cost.
What cables are required for daisy-chain power connections?
The Q4/2 power connectors accept standard 400 V AC industrial supply cable with appropriate conductor cross-section for the total load of all downstream drives. Each connector is rated for the full line current of the daisy-chain segment. Always size the supply cable for the sum of all drives on the chain.
Is a separate 24 V DC supply needed for the control electronics?
No. The G115D generates its own control voltage from the 400 V AC mains input. No external 24 V power supply is required, which simplifies the BOM and further reduces cabinet space.
