The Chromalox 200 Series is a single‑channel digital PID temperature regulator designed for critical industrial process heating and cooling applications. It combines PID control with Chromalox's SMART auto‑tuning algorithm that automatically calculates the optimal PID parameters for the connected thermal load, reducing commissioning time and eliminating guesswork. The built‑in fuzzy logic layer dynamically adjusts the control output based on the rate and direction of temperature change—not just the deviation from setpoint—providing smoother control than conventional PID alone, particularly in systems with irregular thermal loads. A configurable proportional band ranging from 1.0 to 200.0 % of the input span allows precise matching of the controller response to the thermal inertia of the process.
Flexible Input, Output, and Alarm Architecture
- Universal Input Compatibility: The 200 Series accepts both thermocouple and RTD sensor inputs, selectable through the front‑panel menu without hardware modification. A single controller model can serve across multiple process zones with different sensor types, reducing the variety of spare controllers that need to be stocked.
