The DEPRAG AST5-S is a compact programmable sequence controller designed for manual screwdriving workstations using the MINIMAT-EC-Servo handheld screwdriver series. Covering a torque range from 0.01 Nm to 2.0 Nm, it stores up to 100 tightening programs with user-defined names, each configurable with torque control with angle monitoring, angle control with torque monitoring, or friction-value-based tightening strategies. The 4.3-inch colour touchscreen enables intuitive on-device programming and displays torque/time curves graphically for immediate process verification.

Operation and Connectivity

Program selection is by number or user-assigned name. All configuration and operation can also be performed via a standard web browser — no proprietary software installation is required. Tightening result data covering the last 7 days is stored internally and retrievable via Ethernet using the Datalogger software (HTTP protocol). The AST5-S integrates with automatic screw feeding systems and supports optional analysis packages for statistical process control, process data acquisition and software updates.

Integrated PLC and Workstation Integration

Built-in PLC functionality handles process sequence logic without an external controller, reducing component count in space-constrained manual assembly cells. The controller pairs with push-to-start or lever-start screwdrivers, and connects to DEPRAG screw feeding systems for fully automated screw presentation and fastening. Its compact footprint is specifically designed for workstations where benchtop space is limited.
