When does a 1.5 kW drive not need fieldbus?

When the PLC already has free digital outputs and the application is start, stop, and speed setpoint. The AB0 suffix removes the bus interface, leaving 4 digital inputs and 2 DIO driven straight from those outputs. One hybrid cable feeds the drive; no network parameters exist to configure, and no bus coupler sits in the panel.

What is left in the drive?

Everything that makes it a drive rather than a contactor: V/f and vector control, electronic overload protection, soft starting that spares belt and gearbox, and 200% overload for 3 s for starting torque. At 4.1 A rated output in a natural-convection FSA frame, it is fanless, silent, and rated IP65/IP66 for machine-mount life.
