The Panametrics MG101 Hygrometer Calibration System generates precise, repeatable levels of water vapor in a carrier gas stream using the fundamental principle of gas dilution. This primary dew point/frost point generation system achieves an accuracy of ±1°C within a continuously adjustable range, making it suitable for both field calibration and laboratory reference applications.

In operation, dry gas is piped into the system and divided into two streams. One stream is saturated with water vapor at a known temperature while the other stream remains dry. The two streams are then mixed, with the saturated stream diluted by varying amounts of dry gas to produce the desired gas/water vapor mixture. A second dilution stage enables generation of gas with known water concentration in the dew/frost point range of -103°F (-75°C) up to 50°F (10°C) below ambient temperature.

The MG101 may be used to recalibrate or verify calibration of Panametrics aluminum oxide hygrometer probes. Additionally, it can generate accurate, reproducible water concentrations in gas for any purpose. Because the system operates without electrical power, it is inherently explosion-proof, making it suitable for use in hazardous environments. Operation requires only a source of dry inert nitrogen gas, with the water concentration of the carrier gas needing to be insignificant compared to the final required mixture (1% or less) when generating frost points in the dry region.
