Not every small drive needs network safety. The AA0 G115D at 1.1 kW runs PROFINET for control while STO stays on the hardwired fail-safe digital input, which keeps the safety architecture conventional and the cost down.

When is hardwired STO the right choice?

When the machine already has a safety relay or safety PLC with dedicated outputs, or when a single E-stop chain covers several drives. The AA0 accepts STO through the F-DI terminal, so the drive joins the existing safety circuit without PROFIsafe configuration.
