Product Description
XE03-0AA0 is the final piece of the XE03 communication puzzle — SINAMICS G115D at 3kW fanless FSB with I/O Control. With this PN, XE03 now carries all three G115D communication interfaces. XE03-0AA0 uses digital and analog I/O signals — start/stop via a 24V digital input, speed reference via a 0–10V analog input. No fieldbus, no network configuration, no GSD file. For a standalone pump, a fan array, or a conveyor section that only needs run/stop and a speed pot on the panel door, this is the simplest path to 3kW of fanless distributed drive power.
When does I/O Control make more sense than PROFINET on a 3kW drive?
I/O Control wins when the control architecture is relay-based or when the PLC lacks a fieldbus port. A 3kW fanless drive controlled by I/O is a drop-in replacement for a contactor-plus-overload relay combination — same control wiring, dramatically more functionality. The drive handles ramp-up, ramp-down, overload protection, and speed adjustment without adding a single network device to the control panel. For machine builders shipping to end users who do not have PROFINET-capable maintenance tools, I/O Control also simplifies troubleshooting — any electrician with a multimeter can verify the control signals.
How does XE03-0AA0 differ from XE03-0AF0 and XE03-0AB0?
The hardware is identical — same 3kW fanless FSB drive, same 15.4A overload capacity, same IP65 enclosure. The difference is the communication interface: AA0 uses digital/analog I/O (no fieldbus), AF0 uses AS-Interface (two-wire yellow flat cable), AB0 uses PROFINET (with PROFIsafe and MRP). All three XE03 variants are now confirmed and available — the choice is purely about how the higher-level control system talks to the drive.
Frequently Asked Questions
What control signals does the AA0 interface support?
The I/O Control interface provides digital inputs for start/stop, direction, and fixed-speed selection, plus an analog input (0–10V or 4–20mA) for speed reference. A digital output reports drive status (ready/running/fault). No fieldbus configuration is required — wire the signals and set parameters via the integrated keypad or SD card.
Can this drive be mounted outdoors?
IP65-rated, so it handles dust and water jets directly. However, the electronics are rated for 0–55°C ambient (with derating above 40°C). Direct sunlight on a dark enclosure can push the internal temperature beyond the rated range. A simple sun shield resolves this — no additional cooling needed.
