At this power level, the drive often handles short-zone conveyor segments, right-angle transfers, and stop gates — applications characterized by frequent starts and stops with low inertia loads. The internal braking resistor (FSA frame minimum external resistor: 200 Ω) handles the regenerative energy from these rapid deceleration events without external components.

Why a braking chopper at 0.75 kW?

The rationale is throughput, not power handling. A 0.75 kW drive on a transfer station may cycle every two seconds — accelerate the rollers, run for 800 ms, decelerate, stop for 400 ms while the downstream station clears, repeat. Without a braking chopper, the deceleration ramp extends to prevent DC-link overvoltage, adding 100-200 ms per cycle. At 30 cycles per minute, 200 ms of extra ramp time costs 6 seconds per minute — a 10% throughput loss on a station that may be the bottleneck for the entire line. The AB0 variant eliminates this efficiency penalty at the drive level.
