The IC200MDL741 is a 16-point discrete sourcing output module in Emerson's VersaMax modular I/O platform — 24 VDC nominal, 0.5 A per point, with per-point short-circuit and overcurrent protection in a compact DIN-rail housing measuring 110 × 67 × 50 mm. Sixteen green LEDs show the on/off state of each output, backed by amber overload indicators per point, a field-power-present LED, and a backplane OK LED — a full diagnostic panel that lets a maintenance technician identify a tripped output at a glance without a laptop or software tool. The module sources current to connected loads (positive logic), making it compatible with standard 24 VDC solenoid valves, indicator lamps, relays, and contactors wired with a common ground.

Protection that prevents, not just reports

Each of the 16 outputs is individually protected against short-circuits and overcurrent with a steady-state trip threshold of approximately 1.6 A — roughly 3× the rated 0.5 A per point. When a channel trips, the amber LED illuminates on that point, and the output transistor is latched off until the fault is cleared and the module is reset. The free-wheeling diode per point safely recirculates the energy from an inductive load (relay coil, solenoid, contactor) when the output turns off, preventing the inductive kickback voltage from damaging the output transistor. The inrush capability — 2.0 A for up to 100 ms — handles the startup surge of incandescent lamps and capacitive loads without false-tripping the overcurrent protection. The optical isolation barrier (250 VAC continuous, 1500 VAC for 1 minute) between the field-side outputs and the backplane logic isolates the control system from field wiring faults: a short to a 120 VAC circuit on a field terminal does not propagate through the backplane to the CPU.
