The IC200MDD841 packs 20 discrete inputs, 12 discrete outputs, and 4 high-speed counter channels into a single VersaMax module slot — a mixed I/O module that eliminates the need for a dedicated counter card when the application needs a few channels of high-speed counting alongside standard digital I/O. The 24 VDC inputs and outputs handle the everyday machinery signals: pushbuttons, limit switches, solenoid valves, indicator lamps. The four configurable HSC channels (up to 80 kHz each) handle the signals that arrive too fast for a standard discrete input module: incremental encoder pulses, turbine flow meter frequencies, proximity sensor counts from a high-speed indexing conveyor.

Four configurable channels: counter, PWM, or pulse train

Each of the four special-purpose channels can be independently configured as a Type A up-counter, a pulse width modulation (PWM) output (22 Hz to 2 kHz, 1–100% duty cycle), a constant-frequency pulse train, or a ramping pulse train with programmable acceleration and deceleration (10–1,000,000 pulses/s², up to 5,000 pulses/s total). This means a single IC200MDD841 can count encoder pulses from a material feed roll, generate a PWM signal to proportionally control a heater via a solid-state relay, and output a ramping pulse train to accelerate a stepper motor driver — all without separate specialty modules. The counter on/off presets default to +32,767 and 0 respectively, and up to 13 words of status data report counter values, PWM duty cycles, and error conditions to the PLC or NIU over the VersaMax backplane.
