Product Description

The Talent GT42 is Hardinge's gang-tool turning center built on a solid one-piece cast-iron base with linear roller guides on every axis. A vertical gang slide carries up to 12 tools with no turret indexing, and the A2-5 spindle takes 16C collets for fast bar changeover.

Why a gang-tool slide instead of an indexed turret?

A turret lathe spends 0.2 to 0.5 seconds indexing between tools, and on a short-cycle small part that idle time is a large slice of the total. The Talent GT42's gang slide has every tool ready at once, so the tool change is the slide move itself — which is why a 65 mm part comes off with chip-to-cut time a turret machine cannot match.

  • 65 mm machining diameter, 42 mm bar
  • A2-5 spindle, 7,000 rpm, 7.5 kW
  • 12-tool vertical gang slide, no indexing
  • Linear roller guides, one-piece cast base

Against an indexed-turret lathe, the Talent GT42 trades tool capacity for zero indexing time — the layout a high-volume small-part job keeps winning on.
