Product Description
The 6ES7194-2LN10-0AA0 is a 10-meter shielded PROFINET bus daisy-chain cable with straight M8 plugs at both ends. It uses the 2Y(ST)CY 1×4×0.5/1.0-100-GN dual-shielded construction—aluminum-clad foil plus tinned copper braid—inside a green PVC jacket. This is the standard bus cable in the ET 200AL M8 family: two male plugs, straight cable exits, ready to link one module to the next.
When should I choose the straight-plug daisy-chain over the angled variant?
Straight plugs are the default choice for most installations. They are easier to grip, faster to mate and torque, and cost slightly less than angled variants. The trade-off is clearance: a straight M8 plug extends roughly 30mm above the port before the cable bends. If the enclosure has at least 30mm of free space above the DIN rail—typical in a standard 200mm-deep control cabinet—straight plugs work without issue. Switch to the angled variant (6ES7194-2LN10-0AB0) only when the lid sits tight, wire duct runs directly above the modules, or you are working inside a shallow machine-mounted IP65/67 enclosure.
How does the 10-meter version compare to the 15-meter?
Same straight-straight topology, same cable construction—the only difference is length. The 10-meter (2LN10) is sized for within-zone daisy-chains: modules inside one cabinet or two adjacent enclosures. The 15-meter (2LN15) handles inter-cabinet backbone links across a larger machine. Choose the length that matches the physical span—using a 15-meter cable for a 2-meter hop leaves you coiling slack inside the wire duct, which adds clutter and can create unintended induction loops in the PROFINET bus.
Why does the green jacket matter?
In the ET 200AL M8 ecosystem, jacket color is a safety-critical signal. Green identifies a shielded PROFINET bus cable; gray identifies an unshielded 24VDC power cable. The M8 connector is physically identical across both—4 pins, same pitch, same keying. Plugging a gray power cable into a bus port connects 24V to the PROFINET ASIC and destroys the interface. The green jacket is your visual lockout: if the cable in your hand is not green, do not plug it into a bus port. Every ET 200AL installation guide repeats this rule for a reason.
