Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 700-HPS series is an emergency stop safety relay that is not a complete, ready-to-install module, but rather the certified relay element itself, supplied in a PCB pin-style package. Its defining characteristic is that the contacts are mechanically linked (forced-guided) in compliance with EN 50205 Type B. This is a fundamental requirement for many safety circuits, ensuring that a welded normally open (NO) contact physically prevents the normally closed (NC) contact from closing, and vice versa. This deterministic behavior is what allows safety relays to reliably monitor external contactors and detect faults in the safety chain.
The 700-HPS provides a DPDT (double-pole, double-throw) contact configuration, with contacts rated for 8 A at 250 V AC. Two contact material options are offered: silver nickel (AgNi) for general-purpose switching and silver nickel with gold plating (AgNi+Au) for low-level or dry circuit applications where contact resistance stability is critical. The relay features a distinctive red cover that, along with the wiring diagram printed directly on the top faceplate, provides immediate visual identification as a safety-related component—an important consideration for panel builders and maintenance technicians. Terminals are PCB pins designed for plug-in connection, with the Bulletin 700-HN123 socket providing a DIN rail mountable interface with screw terminals.
The 700-HPS series covers a comprehensive range of DC coil voltages: 6V, 12V, 24V, 48V, 60V, 110V, and 125V, with a standard coil power consumption of 0.7 W. Coil-to-contact isolation is rated at 4 kV, providing robust protection against voltage transients. The relay is designed for a mechanical life of 10 million operations and carries an IP20 protection rating when used with a guarded terminal socket. It operates reliably across a wide temperature range from -40°C to 70°C, with storage capability down to -50°C and shock/vibration resistance of 15 G and 2.5 G respectively. Certifications include CE marking, CSA certification, cULus listing, IMQ certification, and TUV certification, with compliance to UL 508 and CSA 22.2 No. 14 standards.
The 700-HPS is the foundational safety relay component for OEMs building their own safety circuits on printed circuit boards, or for use with the dedicated 700-HN123 socket in panel-mount applications. It is an ideal solution for emergency stop circuits, safety gate monitoring, light curtain interface, and any application requiring EN ISO 13849-1 safety-related parts of control systems where the relay itself must provide the mechanically linked contact function. By providing a certified, forced-guided relay element in a convenient PCB package, Allen-Bradley simplifies the integration of safety functions into custom control designs.
