The Siemens 6SL3520-0XE41-5AB0 is the 1.5 kW PROFINET variant at the ceiling of the FSA frame within the SINAMICS G115D distributed drive series. It delivers 4.1 A rated / 8.2 A overload from the 380×156×129 mm die-cast housing — the maximum power the passively cooled FSA enclosure can dissipate through its aluminum surface without a fan. Beyond this point, the G115D platform steps to the larger FSB frame (425 mm) with either fanless convection cooling (2.2–3 kW) or integrated fan cooling (4 kW).

What makes 1.5 kW the FSA frame ceiling?

The FSA frame relies entirely on natural convection — heat from the output stage conducts through the die-cast aluminum housing and dissipates to ambient air without forced airflow. At 1.5 kW / 4.1 A continuous, the thermal losses approach the passive cooling limit of the 380 mm enclosure under 40°C ambient conditions. Siemens does not offer a fan-cooled FSA variant — when the application demands more power, the mechanical design steps to FSB (425×180×134 mm for fanless, 425×180×169 mm for fan-cooled), which provides a larger thermal envelope. The 0XE41-5AB0 is therefore the highest-power G115D an engineer can specify while keeping the smallest mounting footprint and the simplest thermal design.

The AB0 PROFINET interface on this top-FSA variant carries the full safety and networking capability of the G115D platform: PROFIsafe for STO on the same Ethernet cable, integrated 2-port switch for daisy-chain or ring topology, and EtherNet/IP coexistence for mixed-vendor installations. Even at the FSA ceiling, the communication capability is identical to the 7.5 kW FSC models — no feature tiering by power class.
