The Siemens 6SL3520-0XE40-7AB0 is the 0.75 kW PROFINET-enabled variant at the top of the XE40 FSA power range within the SINAMICS G115D series. It delivers 2.2 A rated / 4.4 A overload from the compact FSA frame — the highest current available in FSA before the step up to the larger FSB enclosure at 1.1 kW and above. For conveyor system designers, this is the maximum FSA power point: the drive that handles the longest belt sections and heaviest accumulation zones that the small frame can thermally sustain.

Why does 0.75 kW matter in the FSA range?

FSA is the smallest G115D frame, relying on natural convection — no fan. Every watt dissipated must leave through the 380×156×129 mm die-cast aluminum housing surface. The 0.75 kW output stage pushes this passive thermal envelope to its limit. Beyond this point — at 1.1 kW and above — Siemens moves to the FSB frame (425 mm tall) or introduces the XH61 fanless FSB variant. The 0XE40-7AB0 is therefore the highest-capacity FSA G115D an engineer can specify before accepting the larger footprint and different mounting geometry of FSB.

PROFINET with PROFIsafe integrates safety and motion control on one Ethernet cable. The built-in 2-port switch enables line topology — each drive passes the PROFINET signal to the next — avoiding the star-wiring home runs that dominate traditional cabinet-based drive architectures. For a conveyor line with 20–50 distributed drives, line topology saves hundreds of meters of Ethernet cable and eliminates intermediate field switches.
