AS-Interface earns its place on conveyor lines by doing more with less cable: one two-wire trunk carries both power for actuation and the control data, and the 2XH61-1AA0 build of the SINAMICS G115D is the 1.1 kW node for it — the largest power rating in this gland-and-PSU section family, mounted directly on the conveyor frame.

Why put a 1.1 kW drive on an AS-Interface trunk at all?

Because the sections it suits are the ones where a PROFINET cabinet per drive would be absurd: short segments, gate openers, diverter belts, transfer points — loads that need speed control and a few I/O signals, not closed-loop network traffic. The AS-i trunk already runs past every section; this build joins it as a standard slave, and the integrated 24 V PSU plus gland wiring mean the only installation work is the belt-side cable and the trunk tap.

What does the 1.1 kW tier change against the smaller AS-i builds?

Headroom on the same wiring scheme: 3.1 A rated in LO duty and 6.2 A in HO against 2.2/4.4 A at 0.75 kW and 1.7/3.4 A at 0.55 kW, with 200% for 3 s on starts. If a section is upgraded to a heavier belt or a steeper incline, the 1AA0 build covers it without touching the trunk design. IP65/66 protection and the 380 x 216 x 129 mm housing stay identical across the whole 2XH6x family, as do the integrated C2 filter and 380-480 V +10/-10% supply window.
