Product Description

The SINAMICS G115D 6SL3520-1XB03-0AB0 is a 3 kW (4.0 hp) wall-mounted distributed drive combining AS-Interface communication with an integrated operator panel in the fanless FSB frame. As the AB0 variant of the highest passive-cooled power rating in the G115D lineup, it delivers 7.7 A of continuous output current with 200% overload (15.4 A peak) — all without a cooling fan. The AB0 configuration adds the operator panel and 24 V DC backup power support to the AS-Interface base, providing on-machine diagnostics while omitting the daisy-chain connectors for simpler star-topology wiring.

The Value of Local Diagnostics at 3 kW. A 3 kW drive typically powers a critical conveyor section — a main trunk belt, a high-speed merge, or a sortation infeed. When such a section faults, the maintenance response time depends entirely on how quickly the fault can be identified and cleared. The AB0 panel displays the fault code, DC bus voltage, and output current at the drive itself, eliminating the "return to the maintenance shop for a laptop" step. The panel also enables manual jog control in local mode for clearing product jams — operators can inch the belt forward or reverse without involving the PLC or AS-i master. For 24/7 logistics operations, this local control capability directly reduces mean-time-to-repair.

Fanless FSB — Reliability without Compromise. The FSB frame at 3 kW (425 × 180 × 134 mm) uses natural convection exclusively. The finned aluminum enclosure dissipates approximately 110 W of losses into ambient air, maintaining safe semiconductor junction temperatures at up to 40 °C without a fan. This is the highest power density achievable with passive cooling in the G115D platform, and it represents the optimal balance point for many conveyor applications — enough power for heavy-duty belting and accumulation, but without the fan-related maintenance burden that begins at 4 kW. The AB0 panel's backlight does add a marginal thermal load, but it is negligible compared to the power-stage losses.

AS-Interface with AB0 — Best of Both Worlds. The AS-i protocol carries speed reference, status, and fault acknowledgment between the PLC and drive. The AB0 panel then provides the richer diagnostic layer that AS-i's limited bandwidth does not natively support — viewing parameter values, accessing the fault buffer, and performing local control operations. For system integrators who value AS-i's wiring simplicity but still need hands-on drive access for maintenance teams, the AB0 configuration is the practical middle ground between the bare-bones AA0 and the fully-loaded AF0.
