Both share the same 72 A power stage, same Frame 5 physical dimensions, same control electronics. The decision between them is not about electrical performance — it is entirely about where the drive lives. The IP20 drive expects to live in a ventilated steel enclosure that provides environmental protection, a defined airflow path, and a disconnect means. This is the standard configuration for centralized motor control centers, multi-drive line-ups, and OEM machines that already include a control panel for PLC, HMI, and ancillary controls. The IP55 drive expects to live in the open — on a machine frame, a wall bracket, or a pedestal — relying on its own gasketed housing and sealed heatsink for environmental protection. At 72 A, the IP20 version's dependence on cabinet airflow is not trivial: an enclosed panel housing this drive must move at least 150 m³/h of air through the cabinet to keep the interior below 40 °C.
